Sound has fascinated me since I was young. I would often find myself marvelling at noises in the world around me, sound in media, music, etc. especially synthesised sound. I have strong memories of my dad playing Jean Michel Jarre’s music, particularly Equinoxe in car journeys, and I always found the soundscapes fascinating and would ask him to play it most journeys. When I was in primary school there was a discussion of who wanted to learn what musical instrument, and I said ‘the synthesiser’. At the time I really had no idea what using a synthesiser actually entailed, but I knew making electronic sounds was something I wanted to try. As I got older I grew increasingly fascinated by electronic music, when I found out about Autechre I was so obsessed with their work and I knew experimental electronic music was something I needed to pursue.
in 2019 I installed a copy of Ableton live 10. I tried making music like Jungle and Drum and Bass as a way to learn arrangement, phrasing and and sound design, but as I got more into synthesised sound design in particular I realised it was my calling. Since it is a relatively new field in human history there is still a lot of unexplored territory,, and I find the possibility of exploring this exciting. Recently I’m excited by the idea of exploring world building and androgyny and fusing it with my sound projects. What I’ve been working on is largely inspired by Tsutomu Nihei’s manga, I enjoy making soundscapes and pieces for how I imagine this world would sound/feel.
