Personal Statement (Week 2)

The ‘acrocorps’ project has been something I’ve been working on for the past few years, It’s essentially a culmination of my identity in terms of gender expression, emotional expression, and worldbuilding.

My vision is to create a conceptual world with its own lore and history, with most of it’s available material being audio. Some of these sound pieces will be soundscapes for areas in the universe I imagine, some will be representative of certain characters/entities within the universe, some will be dynamic sound battles between different factions in this universe.

I will accompany these pieces with lore giving a brief glimpse into the inner mechanics of this world, however I want the listener to use their imagination to build their own interpretation of this work, I want to encourage individual thought and contemplation. Part of this is because I believe in today’s age people mindlessly consume media without thinking deeply into it, and I want to oppose this. I plan on making it still accessible to people like this initially through social media posting, but I want to pique their interest enough for them to want to explore more of their own volition.

Part of my inspiration for this project comes from the minimal yet complex storytelling of Fromsoftware games like Elden Ring and Armored Core, and Tsutomu Nihei’s manga such as Biomega, Abara, and Blame!.

Some possible hindrances I may encounter with this project are lack of interest, it is a very niche concept so it will take a lot of networking from me to share this about enough to gain any traction. This could also be a strength though, I hope to intrigue people as it will be a new style of media the likes of which have not really been seen before.

One significant opportunity which I am lucky enough to live in the age of is social media, I think if I use this tool wisely to my advantage I could help this project gain traction

There are also negative aspects of social media though, I think algorithms generally do not push more unique styles of media to the masses, which could result in me receiving less traction to the project.
