This is a PureData patch that I worked on to practice the workflow of the software and broadening my understanding of techniques such as FM synthesis. I initially followed a tutorial on the bela.local website for an FM patch, but upon realising that I didn’t have the hardware available to control the input parameters it suggested using, I decided to follow a Youtube tutorial on a FM synthesis patch. After creating this, I decided I wanted to make a more ‘musical’ patch, so I followed a tutorial for an AM patch to serve as a noise/hi-hat layer, and another tutorial to make a kick.
From these exercises, I learned more about the mechanics of FM synthesis, and how data is stored and transmitted between objects.
